The Duke Of edinburgh disability games

We have mentioned on numerous occasion juts how much the Westfield Sports Leaders are well respected around the city, it is no surprise that their services and time is so in demand. For another year, this was true of the Duke of Edinburgh Disability Games. Though the event is not associated with our family of schools as such and is a Yorkshire based event, our Sports Leaders were once again selected to volunteer at the event.  The event is designed for children with a whole host of special educational needs and disabilities to have tasters in a variety of different sports. These ranged from cycling and curling to wheel chair basketball and golf.  Our leaders were asked to coach at different sports and some were even asked to manage teams and lead them around the building spending the day with the children. The event was huge success and this was in no small part to the maturity, sensitivity and professionalism on the day. I hope we are invited to be volunteers at this event for years and years to come.
