Each school across the Westfield Family of Schools sent their Eco Council/School Council to Rother Valley in September. The children helped to clean up the local environment, making the area a much nicer place for all of us.
Children from across the Family of Schools headed out again in July to litter pick in the local community. Each school now has their own set of litter picker tools, purchased through the Communication and Engagement Project, which can be used as often as schools like.
The Community Clean Up was organised by the members of the Communication and Engagement project, as a way of being able to make a difference to the community that we all share.
The start of this project saw all of our children being visited by a member of the Amey company, who delivered a message about rubbish and recycling.
Following this every school took delivery of 30 litter pickers and used these to collect as much rubbish in the area surrounding their schools as possible.
The school or Eco council members were then invited to attend the Eco-Council on Monday 30th September to learn more about the trees that surround us, making a difference to our environment and putting rubbish to good use. They are due to feedback to their schools about this during the next week.
The grand finale of the Clean Up event will take place from Friday 4th October when work from across the schools will be displayed at Crystal Peaks shopping centre, just down from the Market. Come along and take a look!
